THE DIAL SIGNED FOR LEPAUTE, PARIS, EARLY 19TH CENTURY AND LATER
Now with a mid to late 20th century mains electric-driven timepiece movement, the dial with delicate concentric repeating graduated flowerhead cast gilt centre within white enamel Roman numeral chapter ring inscribed LEPAUTE, A PARIS to lower edge, with blued steel moon hands and conforming repeating flowerhead design cast bezel, the arched case with panel relief cast with a Classical female holding a substantial floral bouquet attracting butterflies to fascia, set within a repeating rose cast outer border incorporating slender scrolls fronted batons at the apex and shoulders, the rear with later hinged brass movement cover, the skirt base with repeating stylised lattice and fan cast ogee top moulding over butterfly-winged mask decorated block feet; with a pair of French Empire style ormolu twin-branch candelabra, circa 1870, each with pineapple surmount over leaf decorated collar applied with draped chains flanked by out-swept acanthus cast arms curving upwards and terminating with drip pans and candle sockets, set on a well-rendered fluted Tuscan column standing on a leafy trail panel inset D-ended plinth base, further applied with a putti with instruments over laurel cast disc feet, (3)
