Description
Marilyn Monroe Handwritten Note Twice Signed with Additional Prominent Red Lipstick Kiss. Roxbury, [Connecticut], undated, ca. 1955-1961. Vintage original handwritten note signed by Marilyn Monroe on the back of a Roxbury Athletic Association envelope with a prominent red lipstick kiss covering both sides. The handwritten notes include annotations, possibly written during a meeting or call regarding a new project. The top of the envelope reads, "Not as it stands" followed by, "I get nervous with great pressure in production... Let me think about it ". Then Marilyn writes, "Terrific job", and, "If he says yes or no talk to my agent". The center of the envelope is prominently twice signed by the actress and subsequently crossed out, creating a natural separation between the upper and lower portions of the text. A red lipstick kiss is brightly visible along the vertical edge of the envelope, above the first line of text, as well as on the verso, where additional handwritten scribbles are present, including text in Monroe's hand at the return address line reading: "Arthur Miller / Roxbury Conn." Notes are written in blue ink on a sealed Roxbury Athletic Association envelope, with the envelope turned vertically for Marilyn's notes written on the back. Envelope measures 6.5" x 3.5" and exhibits areas of foxing on both sides. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Estate of Norman and Hedda Rosten.
