(2) Footnotes: For the first funnel in this lot the engraved crest and motto associated with the STIRLING family of Dunblane, Perthshire. The family appear to be related to the STIRLING family of Kippendavie. The paternal holder of the arms at the time of assay (1796) is Revd. Robert STIRLING (1765-1817) of Dunblane, who in 1796 married Mary GRAHAM (1771-1846). This item as result may be a marriage piece. Robert STIRLING was the son of James STIRLING by Helen ALLAN.
