Three George II / III silver shaped-circular salvers first William Peaston, London, 1747; second, Ebenezer Coker, London 1762; third, Joseph Sanders, London 1739 The first, William Peaston, London 1747, with shell and scroll border, centred with an engraved armorial of Charles TURNER (1727-1783) of Kirkleatham Hall, Redcar, Yorkshire, on three scroll and hoof feet, diameter 30.5cm; the second, Ebenezer Coker, London 1762, with shell and scroll border, on three scroll and hoof feet, underside with later inscription, 'David Jocelyn Hambro from his Godfather Jocelyn 1936,' diameter 24cm; the third, Joseph Sanders, London 1739, with shell and scroll border, on three scroll and hoof feet, with engraved crest in a rococo scroll cartouche, diameter 25cm;, weight 62oz. (3) Footnotes: For the salver dated 1747, the engraved arms possibly later were granted for the use of Charles TURNER (1727-1783) of Kirkleatham Hall, Redcar, Yorkshire (now Cleveland). In 1782 he was crest Baronet TURNER of Kirkleatham. He was the son and of William TURNER, also of Kirkleatham, by his wife the heiress Jane BATHURST daughter of Charles BATHURST of York. He was MP for York 1768-83 and in 1772 Lord Mayor of York. He married (no date found) Mary Shuttleworth (1757-1786), but there is no evidence of a male heir. Despite this, co-lateral members of the TURNER family use the same arms and crest into the nineteenth century. One notable user being Benjamin Brecknell TURNER (1815-1894).
