A collection of four silver shaped-circular salvers various maker's and dates A large salver, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co Ltd, London 1929, gadroon rim on four claw and ball feet, centre with engraved inscription, 'Presented to J H Hambro Esq on the occasion of his Marriage by the Staff and Employees of the Hyde April 23rd 1930', diameter 42cm; A Victorian salver, Thomas Bradbury & Sons, London 1895, on three scroll feet, centre engraved with twin crests, issuing from the coronet of a European Count a lion rampant holding in the fore-paws a battle axe and a hawk with wings raised, belled and resting its dexter foot on an increscent, for HAMBRO, diameter 30.5cm; A George III silver salver, Ebenezer Coker, London 1769, gadroon rim on hoof feet, engraved reserve to the centre, diameter 34cm; A small salver, Henry Wilkinson & Co, London 1893, ornate shell, acanthus border with gadroon rim, central cartouche with inscription, on three claw and ball feet, diameter 21cm, weight 136oz. (4) Footnotes: For the salver dated 1895, these are the crests associated with the arms of the Percival Otway HAMBRO (1870-1931), who at the time assay was a British army officer serving with the King's Hussars. He was born at Andover, Hampshire the son of Perceval Lewis HAMBRO (1836-1885) by his wife Grace Otway MAYNE (1851-1870) the daughter of Henry Otway MAYNE (1819-1861) by his wife Mary Ewer TURNER (1831-1906) from Bengal India. His father was born in Copenhagen, Denmark where the HAMBRO family were merchants who later settled in the UK developing a banking and finance dynasty. His arms are not recorded in the UK and are expected to have been granted in Denmark. His mother was born at Augrangabad, India. As a career army officer he reached the rank of Major General, serving in the 2nd Boer War, World War One and in India. For his service he was awarded a KBE, CB and CMG. In 1911 he married in London: Marjorie Henrietta BINGHAM (1890-1965) the daughter of Edward George Henry BINGHAM (1849-) of Woolwich, Kent by his wife Beatrice Helen STEPHEN (1861-1949) who was born in Melborne, Victoria.
