A rare Arts and Crafts silver three-piece tea service with a pair of sugar tongs teapot with marker's mark for William Henry Warmington, London 1935, cream jug Guild of Handicraft, London 1934, also with additional mark for William Henry Warmington, sugar bowl and tongs, Guild of Handicraft, London 1933 and 1934, of Chipping Camden School Hand raised with all-over spot hammered surface, comprising tea pot, cream jug, two-handled sugar bowl and a pair of sugar tongs, globular form with bellied sides, hinged domed cover, ebonised finial and handle, on a spreading circular foot, weight total 45oz. (4) Footnotes: Harry Warmington usually used the Guild of Handicraft mark but in 1935 he registered his W.H.W. mark for his occasional private use. William Henry Warmington known as Harry Warmington revived Campden School of Arts and Crafts in 1946 with George Hart. Harry Warmington was 'an integral member of the Guild of Handicraft workshop for some 50 years, he was one of the best silversmiths to have worked in Campden, George Hart described him as 'one of the finest silver and goldsmiths in the country'. William Henry Warmington (1895-1979) born in Badsey his family moved to Sheep Street in Chipping Campden in 1904. William attended Chipping Campden Grammar School from 1906 until 1910. He then joined the Guild of Handicrafts and learnt the art of silversmithing, he was also an engraver. After the Second World War he was the metalwork instructor at the Campden School of Arts and Crafts for twenty years and continued to work at the Silk Mill in Campden until he was 70 years old.
