A Queen Anne Britannia standard silver mug Robert Lovell, London 1705 Of tapering form, with applied girdle, engraved with the arms of JACOBSEN with stepped foot, height 9.2cm, weight 7.8oz. Footnotes: These are the differenced arms of Sir Jacob JACOBSEN (1680-1735) who was born in Hamburg, Germany. The earlier ancestry of the family would appear to be in Antwerp, Belgium. In 1717/8 he was Knighted (KB) when he was identified as a merchant in London and Director of the South Sea Company. In 1704 he had married Anne HEATHCOTE (1682-1737) of London, daughter of Gilbert HEATHCOTE (1653-1733) of Chesterfield, Derbyshire by Esther RAYNER (1658-1714).
