A pair of George II silver candlesticks John Robinson II, London 1755 With circular detachable drip pans with gadrooned border engraved with the arms of YOUNG and CLARKE, with spool shaped sconces, baluster gadrooned stem, on a gadrooned square base, engraved with the arms of BOUVERIE and YOUNG and CLARKE, height 22.5cm, weight 36oz. Footnotes: The arms of BOUVERIE YOUNG AND CLARKE are associated with Jacob des BOUVERIE (1694-1761), who in 1747 had been created 1st Viscount Folkestone. Jacob BOUVERIE was the son of Sir William des BOUVERIE (1656-1717) who in 1713 had been created 1st Baronet of St Catherin Creechurch, a London merchant, by Ann URRY (1663-1739). In 1724 he married firstly Mary CLARKE (1703-1739) daughter of Bartholomew CLARKE (1678-1746) merchant of Hardingstone, by Mary YOUNG of Delapre Abbey.
