A George III Scottish silver tea pot James Gilliland, Edinburgh 1769 Drum form, with straight sides, engraved with swags and the arms of WEIR, with angular spout, with hinged domed cover with wooden finial, height 13.5cm, weight total 14oz. Footnotes: The separate engravings show the arms and crest of the Scottish landed family of WEIR or WEIR de VERE of the Stoneybyres estate, Lanarkshire, who occupied Stoneybyres Castle on the Linn Burn, 4km west of Lanark. They were a cadet family branch of the WEIR family of Blackwood. Provenance Collection of the late Sir Colin Corness.
