1939. Single-sided tin (SST). Eveready and Prestone were "sister brands" owned by Union Carbide. They were marketed together to leverage the massive trust and name recognition that Eveready batteries already had with the public. At the time, Prestone was virtually unknown. By putting Eveready on the sign, the company was telling drivers, "The same people who make your reliable flashlight batteries also make this 'Does Not Evaporate' antifreeze". (TAC #501627).
