1960-1961. Lithographed paper. This specific "Cars Love Shell" design was the cornerstone of Shell's 1960 outdoor advertising campaign. The high contrast green background was a hallmark of the series and distinguished it from the previous campaign that appeared on a white or neutral background. The size of this poster indicates it was intended for a Shell service station to be displayed in a large metal frame. The whimsical artwork was created in 1960 by French poster artist Raymond Savignac (1907-2002) who was famous for giving life to inanimate objects. This campaign was short, lasting from 1960 to late 1961 when Shell shifted to another artist. All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions.
