1968-1971. Reverse-painted glass. This clock advertised a brand originally introduced in 1900 as "Excellent Oxide". The name was shortened to a catchy, more recognizable name that was easier to market. The green starburst design was part of Exide's "Green Power" campaign (the starburst implied their batteries could hold a charge longer and burst into life even in harsh conditions). The campaign was so successful that Exide continued to use it for over a decade. By 1971, the green starburst design was still the face of the brand. PAM didn't just make these clocks once. For example, a new Exide dealership might open in 1971 and would order a clock from the current catalogue. PAM would make a new clock using the active Exide design and would stamp it with the current date (in this case, 6-71). Therefore, this is a 1971 clock featuring a 1960s design. Interestingly, Exide is one of the oldest and most storied battery brands in the world, having powered everything from the first modern submarines to all Apollo space missions.
