Description
Wow, what an exceptional Sunstone, most likely mined in Oregon, USA. Red Sunstone is nearly always mined in Oregon, so as you can imagine, the value is quite high. This stone has really interesting color, mostly rich red with a streak of green, which we've tried to capture photographically. The green is pretty minor and doesn't detract from the main red, and it gives the stone some interesting character, as you can see the green tone from certain angles. We have some appraised Sunstones in a few of our listings and the appraisals value the stones at $450 per carat from an appraisal dating back to 2007. The stones are definitely worth much more in today's market. Natural and untreated. Most gems sold online aren't jewelry grade. They're either poorly cut, have weak color or too many inclusions, giving them the designation collector grade. Collector grade gems aren't worth nearly as much as jewelry grade. This gem is a cut above. We encourage you to do some searches are compare the quality of our gems to others online. The difference should be clear. For Proxibid bidders, shipping is a flat rate of $6, no matter how many lots won. For Live Auctioneers bidders, shipping will be calculated automatically by Live Shipping and all winnings will be combined into a single package for one low rate.
