Description
This is top quality Imperial Topaz from Ouro Preto, Brazil, the only locality on earth where true Imperial Topaz is mined. Fantastic Apricot color. Strong orangy red. There is a ton of irradiated brown Topaz being marketed as Imperial Topaz. But true Imperial Topaz can be distinguished by two factors. First, it doesn't have any brown or champagne color. Second, the refractive index is slightly higher than common Topaz. Genuine Imperial Topaz of high quality often sells for $1000 per carat at retail. Wholesale is $500 per carat. We're asking only $250 per carat. This stone comes with the 16 page appraisal dossier from 1984. This stone was mined over 40 years ago and has definitely increased in value since the appraisal was first written. The appraisal values this stone at over $5000, which is not an overinflated value for this stone. Natural and untreated. Most gems sold online aren't jewelry grade. They're either poorly cut, have weak color or too many inclusions, giving them the designation collector grade. Collector grade gems aren't worth nearly as much as jewelry grade. This gem is a cut above. We encourage you to do some searches are compare the quality of our gems to others online. The difference should be clear. For Proxibid bidders, shipping is a flat rate of $6, no matter how many lots won. For Live Auctioneers bidders, shipping will be calculated automatically by Live Shipping and all winnings will be combined into a single package for one low rate.
