Description

Scalecraft Lockheed P-38 Lightning desktop display model. This item is constructed of carved wood with a silver-tone painted finish meant to simulate natural metal. The model depicts the twin-engine, twin-boom fighter aircraft with dark green anti-glare panels on the forward engine cowlings and central fuselage. It features United States Army Air Forces star-and-bar insignia on the wings. The aircraft is fitted with red nose caps and propeller spinners, holding three-blade black propellers with yellow-painted tips. The model is mounted on a polished wood display base with a single vertical support. The top of the base is marked with the Lockheed corporate logo and the word SCALE in white print. The front edge of the base is marked P-38.
