Distilled in 1994 and bottled in 2009 at a robust cask strength of 52.6% ABV, Earl Magnus was released as a limited edition bottling named after Magnus Erlendsson, the Earl of Orkney who would later become Saint Magnus - one of Orkney's most important historical figures. The release reflects Highland Park's longstanding tradition of drawing inspiration from the islands' Norse ancestry, mythology, and legendary rulers. Matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned oak casks, the whisky showcases Highland Park's renowned balance of aromatic Orcadian peat smoke, dried fruits, honeyed sweetness, warming spice, and rich oak influence. Bottled at natural cask strength, the whisky delivers exceptional depth and intensity whilst retaining the elegant complexity for which Highland Park is internationally admired. As the inaugural release within the highly collectible Inga Saga Trilogy, Earl Magnus quickly gained a strong following amongst both Highland Park enthusiasts and collectors of limited-edition Scotch whisky. Combining historical storytelling, striking presentation, limited availability, and the enduring appeal of Highland Park's distinctive island style, this bottling remains one of the standout modern releases from the distillery.
