A Colima Figural Group West Mexico, c. 250 BC–250 AD A solid earthenware sculpture depicting a seated figure holding an infant on the lap, cradled in the left arm. The right arm is bent, with the hand raised to the side of the neck. The figure wears a banded headdress, large ear ornaments, and a necklace with pendant. The composition is intimate and direct, with the maternal subject given clear sculptural emphasis. A tender and appealing example of Colima figural art. With a custom wood base. In good condition; broken and repaired across the waist.
