Description
Two Transitional Inca / Colonial Blackware Vessels Peru, c. 16th–17th century Burnished blackware. One vessel bears a molded impression of a striding warrior wearing a feathered headdress and carrying a spear and club. The other takes the form of a Janus-head female, with a large coiffure and ringlets descending at the sides of the heads. Different in subject but closely related in surface and presence, the pair offers an appealing contrast between martial and female imagery. A handsome and unusual group from the transitional period. Each in very good, intact condition. Heights: 9 and 9 ½ inches HID03101062020 © 2026 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
