Description

PHILIPPINES, IFUGAO - woven Textile Blankets (2 PCS), 20th century.

Group comprising two handwoven textile blankets.

The right example worked in blue-grey and muted salmon tones, organized in alternating vertical bands of narrow striping and broader patterned fields. The central areas incorporate stylized geometric and figural motifs in contrasting light thread. One end retains twisted fringe with mixed-color tassels.

The second textile in dark grey and black, woven in a denser structure with horizontal banding. Narrow patterned bands of repeating geometric motifs alternate with plain weave sections, creating a restrained linear composition. Edges with simple selvedge finish and minimal fringe. Grey Fabric- 24"W 48"L. Orange and blue- 41"L 35"W

Both woven in handspun fiber, likely cotton, with visible irregularities in the weave and wear consistent with use.
