A Scottish provincial Hanoverian pattern tablespoon by William Livingstone of Elgin, circa 1730, Three marks: WL (conjoined), ELG (serif above), gothic O, engraved with contemporary marriage initials LS over IU, length 21.3cm, weight 2.4oz. Footnotes: A similar example sold by Lyon and Turnbull, 13 February 2008, Lot 87. William Livingstone is the among the earliest Elgin goldsmiths with work still surviving. He was the maker of the Communion beakers for Dundurcas Parish. These beakers bear the same marks as this spoon.
