WHEATSTONE CHARLES: (1802-1875) English scientist & inventor of many Victorian items including the concertina and stereoscope. Autograph statement signed, C. Wheatstone, to the head of a large oblong folio page removed from an album, n.p., 25th October 1873. Wheatstone writes, in full, ´What cannot Art and Industry achieve when science guides the spirit of their toil?´. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG
Provenance: The present statement originates from the personal Album Amicorum of Nadar (1820-1910) Gaspard-Felix Tournachon. French photographer, caricaturist and balloonist, the first person to take aerial photographs (1858).
