Far more than luxurious timepieces, these remarkable pocket watches served as symbols of prestige, diplomacy, and royal patronage during a pivotal moment in Saudi history. Produced in an exceptionally small series, it is believed to comprise approximately 200 examples ever made. The watch is distinguished by its pink-gold case, ruby-set indices, and ivory-colored enamel dial centered with a portrait of King Saud. Executed in polychrome Grand Feu enamel by Stern Frères, the portrait required repeated kiln firings at extreme temperatures and immense technical precision. As each portrait was individually painted by hand, no two examples are entirely identical, lending every watch its own distinct character. The absence of a Patek Philippe signature further highlights the royal portrait, while the scarcity of publicly known examples reflects how closely these watches remained within royal and private collections. The watch has remained in nicely preserved condition and is accompanied by the Extract from the Archives and its original green leather presentation box.
