Description

This lovely American Art Pottery bud vase features a charming bellflower motif and is in a striking Aerial blue, a "soft, pure, breezy bay blue with a twilight blue undertone color."
Signed on the bottom with the classic Rookwood R XXVIII, 2111. The opening measures 1.75 inches across, the base 2.50 inches across.
"Rookwood Pottery started in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1880, founded by artist and entrepreneur Maria Longworth Nichols. She started the company in a renovated schoolhouse on the eastern edge of the city. The company was named after her family's country estate and quickly gained international acclaim for its artistic and innovative ceramic wares. By the turn of the century. It soon became one of America's most successful pottery companies. The founder experimented with many glazes and production techniques to make her pottery to be both beautiful and useful."
Rookwood soon employed approximately 200 workers, artists, and sculptors,.''
