Description
Exceptional early 20th-century Southern folk pottery vessel was masterfully hand-turned by the historic craftsman William Thomas Belah (W.T.B.) Gordy, carefully designed to mimic the timeless, rustic aesthetic of a classic terracotta-style planter. Active in Alvaton and Aberdeen, Georgia from roughly 1900 to 1935, W.T.B. Gordy was a highly influential patriarch of Georgia regional stoneware, renowned for his robust utilitarian forms and precise craftsmanship. Measuring approximately 7 3/8 in. H x 8 1/8 in. in diameter, the pot is presented in overall good antique condition, exhibiting general, age-appropriate surface wear.
