Description
A paperback copy of US Department of Justice "The Criminal Use of False Identification" in very good condition overall dated November 1976. The Criminal Use of False Identification is a landmark 1976 report by the Department of Justice (.gov) that examined the widespread societal impacts of forged, counterfeit, and stolen identification documents. This comprehensive study directly led to the enactment of federal laws criminalizing the production and possession of fake IDs. In the mid-1970s, the DOJ sponsored the Federal Advisory Committee on False Identification (FACFI) to comprehensively assess how criminals exploited fake documents. The committee identified six major areas where false IDs caused severe problems: drug smuggling, illegal immigration, fugitives evading justice, fraud against businesses, the government and general criminal activities.
