These are vintage U.S. Navy and military-standard telescopic marine alidades used for navigational purposes. An alidade is a precision instrument mounted on a ship's compass repeater. It features a terrestrial telescope and a prism that superimposes the compass card's readings onto the viewer's line of sight, allowing for highly accurate, simultaneous visual bearings of distant objects and their corresponding compass headings. Both the Mark 6 Mod 1 and Mark 7 Mod 0 are variations of the standard military telescope alidade (often classified under Type II specifications) designed for shipboard navigation.
