He worked with Rolleiflex cameras from the 1950s and 60s. A formal characteristic of his pictures is the development of silver gelatin prints with a natural sponge, which makes the chemical process of photography visible and each hand print a unique piece. In 1995, he coloured his first b/w prints. Since 2007, hand-colouring of individual works has systematically found its way into his oeuvre. These analogous hand-coloured photographic works were created as pigment prints after scanning.
