Description
A WWII Dated 3-15-43 Photograph of a B-26 Allied Bomber in good to very good condition overall. The back of the photo reads "Marauder in the Night"- Landing lights gleaming in the growing dark, propellers still whirling from the last gasps of powerful motors, a twin-engined Marauder comes to rest before its hanger at the Glen L Martin Company, Baltimore, after passing its Army acceptance flight. This powerful ship is harassing the enemy on whatever front encountered; has been used with equal success in the cold of Alaska; the heat of Africa and the humidity of the south seas.
Able to take care of itself on bombing missions, due to its tremendous speed, fire power and armament, the Marauder emerged from the Battle of Midway in a new role-- that of a torpedo plane. More recently it played an important part in the rout of Rommel. --Photo by Fred Parker, The Glenn L. Martin Company. The Glenn L. Martin Company was a pioneering American aircraft and aerospace manufacturing firm founded by aviation pioneer Glenn L. Martin in 1912. It became famous for building iconic military bombers, patrol planes, and flying boats, eventually evolving into the modern defense and aerospace giant Lockheed Martin.
