Description
The glaze carries a soft, pale blue tint, while the cobalt decoration is rendered in a rich, deep blue tone.
The base features a straight-cut foot rim with a recessed center, and a wax export seal remains attached to one side.
Provenance: From the estate of Dr. Andres Onate, former Dean of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona. Dr. Onate served in China for the US State Department in the early 1980s and again in the early 1990s. This item was purchased in Beijing circa 1982.

2 ¼ in (5.7 cm) tall x ½ in (1.3 cm) thick x 1 3/8 in (3.4 cm) wide. Weighs 1.1 oz.
CONDITION
The mouth is rough but does not appear to be chipped because the unevenness is glazed over. The foot has chips where it was removed from the kiln. The snuff bottle has numerous kiln flaws, such as pits and expansion lines in the glaze. The snuff bottle does not have a top.
A finely detailed example with strong color, appealing form, and the character that only age and use can impart.
