Description
A stunning, large-scale artisan tureen crafted in the Majolica style. The piece features a highly textured, multi-tonal glaze that mimics the natural variations of a pumpkin. The sculptural lid is topped with a realistic, dried, squash stem handle, and the interior is fully glazed for functional use. The stylized vessel has inspiration from an Asian aesthetic.
Purchased in 1996 at Callaway Gardens & Resort, in Pine Mountain Georgia..The piece is a fine example of the high-quality regional studio pottery curated for the resort's collections during the mid-90s. The base bears a hand-incised artisan monogram (resembling a stylized "G" or "tt") and the date '95.
A perfect statement piece for a Japandi-inspired dining table, the set piece for a side board or sculptural addition to a modern kitchen.
