MID-ATLANTIC PAINTED PINE STEP-BACK SHELF

Description

MID-ATLANTIC PAINTED PINE STEP-BACK SHELF, tall vertical form having four fixed shelves, top shelf having a stepped-in backing possibly for a concealed compartment, square-head nail construction. Retains remnants of original gray-painted and red wash surface. Back retains modern hanging hardware, item is sturdy enough to stand freely. 19th century. 52 5/8" H, 14" WOA, 8 1/4" D base, and 6" D step-in top.
