AMERICAN PINE LATHE, of long rectangular form with the two horizontal boards mortised through thick shaped ends. Later-added blocking for stabilization. 19th century. 46" HOA, 92" WOA, 36" DOA.
Catalogue Note: It's possible that the wheels from the Stephen C. Wolcott collection (lot 1703) went with this lathe and the other lathe in this sale from his collection. They were accessioned with different numbers than the lathes, so it's possible that they do not have association.
Provenance:
Property deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, VA. All proceeds to benefit the collection acquisition fund. Accessioned in 1936.
Ex-collection Stephen C. Wolcott, Nutall, VA.
