Artist: Villeneuve
The name "Villeneuve" refers to a French engraver active during the late 18th century. Villeneuve is known for producing engravings that often depicted political and allegorical subjects, particularly during the French Revolution. His works include satirical portraits and scenes reflecting the tumultuous events of the time. For instance, he published engravings such as "La Panthère Autrichienne" and "Le Traître Louis XVI" in 1792, which are part of the Royal Collection Trust.
Maison du Passage
"Maison du Passage" translates to "House of the Passage" and refers to Villeneuve's workshop or place of business. Historical records indicate that Villeneuve operated from this location on Rue Zacharie St. Severin in Paris. The address appears on several of his published works, such as the engraving "Matière à Réflexion pour les Jongleurs Couronnés," which is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection
We accept payment via Paypal, credit or debit card, UK and euro bank transfer, and UK£ cheques.
All our artworks are packaged to a very high standard, using protective cellophane wallets, hardboard backing, and bubble wrap. Framed pictures are packed into custom made cartons. Some works on paper are shipped in extra-thick postage tubes when this is the safest method of transport.
Glass is usually removed from frames prior to shipping as despite our best effort, carriers manage to break the glass and often the broken glass damages the artwork.
