Description
Alfénide, utilized by Manufacture de L'Alfénide between 1890 and 1920, embodies the style of Louis XV, infused with influences from both Pompadour and Rococo aesthetics.
The hallmark of Halphen goat underwent a slight alteration during this period. The initials "C" and "H" were removed, replaced instead by the digits "8" and "4" on the left and right sides respectively. This alteration resulted in the number "84," indicating that 84 grams of silver were required for the silvering of two dozen spoons or forks. The rhombus featuring the goat's head was placed within a rectangular box.
In the style of Louis XV, with influences from Pompadour and Rococo, Alfénide pieces showcase delicate chasing of asymmetrical plant motifs, characteristic of the Rocaille or Louis XV style. This intricate detailing highlights the skill and meticulous craftsmanship of the silversmiths involved.
