Description
This Eastman serigraph comes with an inscription that reads: "Fill up my joy by thinking alike, having the same charity. With one soul and one mind.. . each one looking not to his own interest but to those of others. John Eastman 1972. "
Eastman is a noted Southern Californian artist whose unique style and creative outputs became recognized during the mid-sixties. A graduate of UCLA with a degree in graphic arts, he was a successful fashion illustrator and art director for a prestigious department store in Los Angeles before turning his full attention to fine art.
Having illustrated many record and book covers, this versatile artist refers to his style as a "fifth dimension" or "beautiful distortion. " In his works, Eastman strives to impart a fluidity of movement, a perception of space, weightlessness and beautiful color.
A prestigious artist for collectors, some of the most notable collectors of Eastman's work included celebrities Raquel Welch and Liza Minnelli. By the early seventies, Eastman's name gradually found its way into most major galleries across the country. Soon after, Eastman's works were received by the international art world to much acclaim; his works were welcomed with great enthusiasm in Japan, South America, the Middle East, and all over Europe. His artworks have been in several museums and venues throughout the world, including the Celux - the Louis Vuitton membership exclusive salon - Rocket in Tokyo, and at Sola Design in Los Angeles.
