Description
№AAA5171The oil painting on Cardboard titled "The Booth and the Faithful Dog" captures a quiet, poignant moment in a humble domestic courtyard, rendered with warmth and sincerity. The scene unfolds in the simplicity of a rural setting—likely a village home or dacha—where a sturdy, weathered green wooden gate forms the backdrop. Its faded paint, slightly chipped in places, tells stories of seasons endured, of hands that once opened and closed it with purpose, and of a home that has aged with dignity. In the foreground, the heart of the composition lies in the depiction of a shaggy dog lying motionless, curled in a restful pose. Its coat, painted with impasto strokes of cream, brown, and black, conveys not only texture but also emotional gravity. There’s a weight to the body—perhaps from a long day of guarding, or simply from the trust it places in the home it watches over. Its positioning directly in front of the booth suggests loyalty not just to a place but to a role fulfilled day after day. The dog’s sleep seems deep, yet somehow alert—an embodiment of both relaxation and devotion. Beside the dog, slightly receding into the right corner, stands a modest blue doghouse. Its brushwork is rough but expressive, using vertical and horizontal lines to imply a structure that is handmade and practical. The booth’s door is dark, perhaps ajar, suggesting that it has served its purpose and that its inhabitant now lies outside, basking in the last warmth of a low sun. The shadows elongate across the dirt yard, softly edged, indicating either morning or late afternoon—those transitional hours where stillness is most profound. The golden-green gate dominates the middle of the composition. Its large, diagonally slatted doors are illuminated by a diagonal shaft of light, casting angular shadows that add a subtle rhythm to the composition. These wooden planks are rendered with broad, confident strokes, their weathered surface rich with tonal variation—ochres, mossy greens, and muted siennas. The shadow of a vertical post stretches toward the dog, connecting the architectural and the organic elements in a subtle interplay of light and form.*** ABOUT THIS PAINTING **** TITLE: "The booth and the faithful dog"* ARTISTS: Volodymyr Benfialov* SIZE: 22.2x31.2 cm/'8.74x12.28 inches'* MEDIUM: oil, cardboard* HAND PAINTED: Original painting from our collection* CONDITION: we tried to convey the maximum information with the help of photos about this product About the artist: Born February 1, 1952 in the city of Poltava.
