The compotes are beautifully crafted with elegant and crisp floral decorations, scrolls and leaves and an open work lattice design around the edges of the rim and the base. The detailed floral decoration is solid and raised off the surface quite a bit. The center of each compote is engraved with the old original monogram of JJ 1829 - 1905. Obviously this pair was given as a 75th birthday or anniversary present in 1905. The compotes are both marked on the underside of the bases with Tiffany & Co Makers, Sterling Silver, and the letter C for the president of Tiffany, Charles T. Cook, who was director of the company from 1902 to 1907. The condition is excellent. The compotes have some minor surface wear and a few small dings commensurate with age and light use, but this is quite insignificant. There are no major dents, no splits, no breaks and no repairs. Each compote measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter at the rim and 3 3/4 inches tall. The combined weight of the pair is 967.6 grams or 33.9 ounces.
