Description:From the combs of the herders in Ladakh to the looms of artisans in Kashmir, the Pashmina you wear makes multiple stops along the way before it reaches your hands. Local herders in the Changhthangh region of Ladakh comb out the wool from the underbellies of the Changra goats and thus begins the journey of an extraordinary masterpiece. It is then spun on handlooms and embroidered on by the most talented artisans of the valley of Kashmir. Making a Pashmina shawl is a process that lasts for months. It requires patience and complete focus of the artisans and that is what makes these products priceless. Sozni embroidery adorns this authentic Pashmina shawl and adds to its beauty. Done with hand by using small needles, Sozni hails from the valley of Kashmir and has been practiced there for centuries. Sozni artisans usually opt for nature themed designs like flowers, leaves etc. That is quite evident in this piece as we can see floral motifs in red and pink threads, interspersed with paisley. The fine embroidery creates a jaalidar pattern. The beige color of the shawl gives it a very earthy and warm feel which is just right for the winter season. The black base of the border completes the look.
