Mechanical Musical Birdcage Automaton

Description

A mechanical birdcage automaton attributed to Schmid Brothers. The item features a single yellow-feathered artificial bird perched upon a decorative stand, surrounded by dried floral elements at the base. The assembly is housed within a domed, brass-toned metal cage with vertical bars, two horizontal support rings, and a top hanging ring. The unit is mounted on a circular base supported by three small ball feet. The underside consists of a silver-toned metal plate housing a brass winding key and mounting screws. A small, square metallic label is present on the base, though the markings are not clearly legible. The internal musical movement is designed to play the tune Oh What a Beautiful Morning. Two inventory tags are attached to the exterior of the cage.
