Vintage Fostoria Ebony Black Glass Fern Etched Footed Console Bowl ~ measuring 12 1/4" x 3" Circa 1929-1934 is in excellent condition. It comes with a pair of Fostoria Ebony Black Glass Fern Etched candlesticks. They also are in excellent condition. NO chips, cracks or scratches. The gold trim on the bowl is nearly as good as the day it was produced. The gold on one candlestick shows wear on top and bottom (see photos). Candlesticks stand 3 1/4" tall with a base of 4 5/8". This is a very hard to find item in the Fostoria line. It was not produced for many years, thus the scarcity of this of pattern. It makes a beautiful display item. A little history: Console bowls were a type of large glass bowl used to hold a centerpiece arrangement of flowers or fruit on a dining table or buffet. They were especially popular from the 1920s through the 1940s, and usually had matching candlesticks to place on either side of the bowl. For flowers, a frog was usually place in the well of the bowl. You will not find a better one- this will be a rare find for the Fostoria collector.
