This pair of Antique Thuringia Germany Porcelain Bookends does not have the Thuringia imprinted on bottom but has the same number as the ones that do. Is embossed with Made in Germany. They measure 5 1/2" tall x 1 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" in depth. The intricate details on the figurines showcase the quality craftsmanship of the time period, making this set a true treasure for any collector. A little history: In 1869, Lazarus Straus organized Lazarus Strass & Sons, an American firm specializing in the import and wholesale of ceramics and glass. Nathan Straus, Lazarus' son, convinced R. H. Macy to establish a small chinaware and glass shop in its stores. In 1882, the United States-based New York and Rudolstadt Pottery Company was organized. Considered by some to be part of the Royal Rudolstadt production line.
