Description
Beautiful Carder-era Steuben art glass compote executed in translucent Verre de Soie (“silk glass”) with applied green threading encircling the broad shallow bowl. The piece features a satin-frosted body with delicate pearl iridescence and a low pedestal foot, characteristic of Steuben’s elegant decorative tableware from the 1910–1925 period. The concentric green thread decoration floating within the glass is a highly desirable Steuben technique and is often found on Verre de Soie examples produced under Frederick Carder. The soft opalescent body displays subtle pink, blue, and gold iridescence when viewed under light, while the threaded green bands create a striking Art Nouveau effect. The underside shows a polished finish consistent with Steuben production. An excellent example of early American art glass combining technical mastery with refined design. Measures 3"H x 6"W
