The tin features embossed elephants and leaves with offset lithographic printing, created to imitate the intricate inlaid ivory and micro mosaic work traditional to the Indian coastal town of Vizagapatam.
According to MJ Franklin's book, British Biscuit Tins 1868-1939, this design was copied from a box presented to Lord and Lady Palmer.
