Description
Original multi-media textile work by French artist Stéphanie Malossane, known for blending textiles, screen-printing, and alternative photographic processes (cyanotype, transfers) with painting.
The composition layers hand-dyed/toned cloth with machine stitching and a sepia photographic textile panel printed with vintage images captioned "Covadonga" (Catedral; Capilla y Cueva; Puente Romano de Cangas de OnÃs; Sepulcro de Pelayo). A narrow sheer ribbon with orange ombré runs vertically across the surface, introducing a warm accent against the earth-toned ground. The edges are intentionally raw; subtle irregularities and discolorations are part of the artist's process and aesthetic.
Framing: float-mounted in a simple frame under glazing (appears to be acrylic/glass). The textile is lightly anchored near the top edge; small staple points visible within the float area reflect the studio mounting approach.
Dimensions: 15.5: x 23.5"
Condition: Very good presentational condition. Minor surface waviness, fray at raw edges, and toning consistent with the materials and the artist's technique; no tears or losses noted.
About the artist:
Malossane studied textile art at École Duperré (Paris) and earned a Master's in Printed Textiles at Central Saint Martins (London); her work mixing textile, printmaking, and photography has been exhibited internationally and offered through platforms such as Artsper, Singulart, and Rise Art.
