RARE VIKING TWISTED RING C.866-1067 AD, SZ 8 1/4-1/2

Description

Cambridgeshire England where the Vikings first invaded and conquered the Anglo-Saxon natives. Size 8 1/4-1/2, oval form, tapering from the bottom 2.2mm to 3.6mm. Bold rope twist motif the top half circumference with some age wear as expected. The spiral or helix was a favorite Viking form. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. Vikings exchanged wedding rings on the pommel of the groom's sword. See the reference image which shows the process. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
