This is a patchwork full-length coat, composed of multiple fabrics, wool, leather, and suede from the collection of Boy George.
The DIY style coat features a high neckline, plaid sleeves embellished with buttons, single-breasted closure with holes on the right-hand side to pull large adornments through and fasten. This is a reversible coat that can be worn two-different ways. The design has a nomadic feel with leather and shearling at the chest and back. The coat features a large slit at the back that starts at the waist and goes to the hem, no label or size tag present.
Boy George in an interview with Julien's Auctions explains how his "Do It Yourself," mentality became a part of his design process, saying, "going home to my mom and saying, 'I got this [?] cut the sleeves off [?] sew it back together again, stencil on it, you know, it was always for me, it was always about DIY. [?] I love designing things."
