A number of ships are shown. Saint James' Church is the oldest Anglican Church in the southern hemisphere. In 1671, the East India Company sent the first of a long sequence of Church of England chaplains. The early, modest little church was replaced by a slightly bigger one in 1674, but was only later named Saint James church. The present building dates from 1774. by Mallet, Allain Manesson. Published 1683. Original 17th century copperplate print. Size 13 x 21 cm | 5.0 x 8.5 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing.
