Description
Seeberger was a family-run photography workshop in Paris. Jules (1872-1932), Louis (1874-1946) and Henri (1876-1956) traveled around France to capture the country at the turn of the century. They were discovered by the head of the fashion magazine La Mode Pratique who was looking for a way to keep up with the latest trends. The magazine commissioned the Seebergers to shoot photos of socialites showing off their impeccable taste at the races in the Bois de Boulogne. The brothers called their new work "instantanes de Haute-Mode" or "snapshots of high fashion." Yet the Seebergers chronicled so much more than fashion. Famous actors, prominent businessmen, politicians and aristocrats of a Paris between wars are all immortalized in their negatives. With so much work, two of Louis' sons, Jean and Albert, joined the team and ran the family business until 1977
