The plaque reads : 'Presented to RT. HON. ROBERT G. Menzies P.C, CH, Q.C, LL.M, LL.D (HON MALTA) BY THE MALTESE GOVERNMENT MALTA 14TH JUNE 1956' Menzies was presented with the cannon whilst he was enroute to the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Conference in London.
