Description
The pattern of this quilt closely resembles that classic Mariner's Compass design popular in the 1840s-1850s. The arms of the star radiating from the central circle are bordered by sawtooth edges, with a deep blue border and blue and gold. and red accents Interestingly, this quilt features 17 points on the central star instead of 16. Overall Condition is above average
It was clearly well preserved by the last owner. But the original owner is a mystery. I think it had to have been made for someone who came from the upper class based on its size. Not too many beds were queen size in the 1850's or 1860's. I think it was considered an exceptional quilt which has stood the test of time.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: There is some yellowing or fading of the white background color, with the small stars of different fabric showing signs of age. And unfortunately one very big stain that looks like it luckily didn't penetrate the front of the quilt and is only visible on the side of the bottom.
Overall condition is still excellent for its age.
